Just a quick question regarding adding another double socket. I already have one behind where my TV is but would like to add another to save on messy extension leads. Am I right in thinking I can add one next to it as a spur and run the wiring horizontaly from the existing socket as long as it's not further than 150mm away?

I thought I read it in the IEE on site guide. But if I'm mistaken, is there a maximum distance yo can go horizontally for a cable run (spur)?

No limit. If you're wiring horizontally from the socket it can go as far as you like :)

Thanks for that!

My only other issue is that the guy who owned the house before me put a decorative brick carcass around the old chimney breast. After a few years now we have decided to remove the bricks. In doing this I have found that he ran a cable from a double socket on one side of the fireplace to another double socket on the other side of the fireplace. He chased about 6 inches of cable in either side and just left it hanging in free air in the cavity between the old chimney and the decorative bricks. So this leads me to ask can I chase this cable in horizontally at the same level between the two sockets as it will obviously dog leg round the chimney?
