At the moment the bathroom has the fan switch (isolator) and the shower switch on the wall in the hall and the light switch on a pull cord inside. I would like to get rid of the pull cord and put the light switch in the hall.

I have been looking for a 2 gang switch with one for the fan and one for the light but can't find one. The nearest I can find is are grid switches but I can't find drywall back boxes for them.

What is the best way to achieve what I want to do?

Thanks in advance.

I have seen 2 gang switches for lights but not for one fan and one light. Where have you seen these?

I do not believe what you have specifically asked for exists.
Depending on your fan and the way the circuit is wired you would probably need a dual pole switch for the fan anyway - and the only real solution is to use dual pole grid switches.

Thanks for the replies. :)

The problem with the grid switches is the back box for drywall, not seen any.

The fan doesn't have a run on, it's just on or off.

So.

You will have to take a cable from the load side of the fan switch/isolator to the new switch position and then run a cable to the fan.

The lighting switch will involve running/ extendin a new cable to this new position as well.

normal light switches can do this for you, but you will need to a two pole switch isolation.

You could remove the switch/isloator, properly connecting the cables with crimps and protection, and then do as i said but you will then need a double pole grid switch, which will fit in a dry line pattress.

Thanks for the replies.

I will be getting a sparkie in to do some wiring in a new extension so I will get him to do that at the same time.

Why?

The fan has N & SL - what makes it need 2P isolation any more than the light in the same room which also has N & SL?

yes, i should have said that he needs to keep the 2 pole isolation switch in the first scenario.
