Afternoon all. I've had a quick search but can't find any threads asking the same as this.

I'm rearranging my garden, and this involves moving the shed. It's only a small shed - 4' x 6' - however I want to make a proper job of it. I also don't want to spend too much money, as I only rent the place.

Where I intend to put the shed is currently a raised flowerbed, with a 2-brick high surrounding wall. This wall is sat on 2" thick paving slabs, roughly 8" x 2' long. My intention is to remove a large amount of this wall (it forms a U shape around the garden). I'm also taking up a large amount of gravel.

I know - ideally - that the shed would stand on a concrete base/slabs laid on a sand & cement base. Could I get away with digging a bit deeper, filling this with gravel and sitting the paving slabs on top of this, and then the shed on top of that, or will I end up regretting that the first time it rains?

Thanks.

Mine was exactly like you describe and it was fine. That said it's been sat on a large pallet on the lawn for the last 6 months while I re-do the garden and it's been fine on that, too.

just make sure you compact the gravel really well :D

if you havent already.....check with the LL before doing anything to the garden..

Thanks for the link, had been looking for ages but hadn't found anything similar. Planning on putting a length of DPM underneath it to try and stop the bottom rotting.

Haven't checked with the LL - her words when we moved in were "do whatever you want with the garden", and given that it looked like a jungle I doubt she'll mind. The neighbours certainly don't. :p

Thanks, gives me extra peace of mind.

Not sure my fiancee would go for the pallet look, mind.
