Standing water in the gutter

Hi

I have just cleaned the gutters around my house this morning, getting rid of all the leaves and sludge etc.

I noticed that one section of the guttering had a lot of standing water in it - even AFTER I had cleaned it. It looked to be draining the water ever so slightly away from the downpipe !

The gutters are all one peice and are attached to aluminium braces on the wall just under the tiles.

I was wondering what my options are to stop the water from standing and drain properly.

make it slope down towards the downpipe.

probably tinker with the brackets,

Because guttering is visually more appealing with less fall, it is fairly common to find water standing in any 'dips' between brackets etc.

We always fix brackets to a taut line and ensure that there are plenty of brackets.

You sound as though you may have aluminium guttering, yes/no?

Yes, its aluminium guttering, a single peice that wraps the house.

Can i adjust the slope ?

I wouldn't worry about it - take a look in terrace guttering that sits on the decorative corbelling and you'll see they are full of water.

Yes, its aluminium guttering, a single peice that wraps the house.

Not really. I wouldn't worry about it.
