Washing Machine Experts - Advice on which to purchase

Hi folks,

Got a whirlpool awod 8140 (second one in 4 years) and its started to make a lovely rumble noise when spinning. I've removed the belt and spun the drum and its def that that's creating the noise. Not sure if its economic to replace the bearings (or even if the bearings are available?)

So, before I consider spending good after bad, can I gather your collective advice on what manufacture/model would be a good investment. Of course there i a budget but it flexible.

I look forward to any suggestions.

Not single, partner that changes clothes more times that a bomb ticks and a 3 year old that manages to drop more food down her than thats on her plate.

So the machine is pretty much running every day for a few hours.

why dont you take the boss out tommrow, and have a look, its bank holiday weekend so maybe special offers in store, have a look out for 5 year gurantee maybe?

anyway sog act covers a £200 machine the same as it does a £500 machine.

and if you have had 2 machines in 4 years something is wrong, id be demanding that second machine is fixed foc, however it could be the bushes - normal wear and tear.

If you removed the belt and it rumbles then the bearings are shot the zanussi suggested in the last post is a cheap chinese import and lately electrolux who own the zanussi name seem hell bent on ruining their reputation by putting the zanussi name on cheap tack from china something im sure will eventually backfire on them . it all depends what you want to pay stick to german brands and check their german built miele being the best of course. These "bargains" or "managers specials" you see in the foyer of the big retailers are cheap c**p and yes if it goes wrong outside the guarantee you could try and argue an f.o.c repair but do you really want the hassle?

buy cheap, buy twice Its worth spending £500 on a decent machine that has a 5 year warranty. Meile are doing 10 year warranty across their entire range. Siemens and Bosch often do 5 year warranty. Get one with at least 8kg capacity. Would recommend comparing with appliancesonline. I bought my Siemens machine from John Lewis who did price match.
