If only it was that simple,, you need a bank loan to call an engineer out these days,, there is no such thing as a quick simple cheap job. All jobs are serious,expensive and a rip off.

nI can't believe that I am actualy responding to you after that, but your problem may be a stuck (permamantly closed) valve microswich or your programmer is on constant or is faulty and not switching off. In that case, I would expect that you have either no cylinder or room stat.

What do you feel would of been a reasonable cost to supply and fit a synchron motor? (assuming this was the fault).
Which makes me want to ask a question that has yet to be answered by a DIY'er who moans about charges.

its good to see that you have so much respect for the elderly. Try watching Rogue Traders on TV, those scum have about the same level of respect.
Please don't lecture people on moaning about stupid charges, there are some good honest genuine hard working proper trades people out there and then there are THOUSANDS of the other so called Tradesmen, who frequently abuse and take advantage the most vulnerable.
I wont give you the benefit of this fantastically helpful forum by responding to any more of your rubbish,,just remember you are a full member of the OP club, lets hope you are thought of in the same way when your time comes.

Your status as a pensioner has nothing to do with a small business' mode of operation.
How many pensioners do you think my small business supports out of its profits? How many do you think it is earning money to prevent the current generation of workers from being a burden to the next generation?
You plight might well be genuine - but I am sorry to say that that is or little relevance to those trying to make an honest living.
Like so many others you are more concerned with your own situation and have ignored a perfectly reasonable questions in response to you own selfish (horrible word is it not?) concerns.
Stupid charges asre just that - stupid. Unfortunately you are unable to demonstrate what is or is not a stupid charge - which is the basis for my argumetrn.
And as for Rogue traders.... How about rogue customers. How about Rogue TV producers? How about the cowboys they employ to "demonstrate" their holier than though attitudes?
You can bleat on all you like about being a pensioner on a low income, but for all I know you are better off than I am., Many of my pensioner customers are. for me to assume otherwise could be considered reverse discrimination.
