As my dad worked at the tip I ended up with bikes made from bits for several years, the fixed gear racer nearly had me off first time I rode it , until around my fifthteenth birthday I was given a spanking brand new Coventry Eagle, pale green frame chrome mudguards and five speed derailer gears. It's getting on a bit now but I've still got it.

Never had one but wished I had. Mind you, there was many a mangled manhood on those gears!

COR theyve bought back memories,
my brother had a chopper,
i had the smaller tomahawk version,no gears.
i also had a night burner, great looking bike.i ended up stripping mine when the plastic coating got fubared.ended up being a chrome burner
a m8 of mine had a redline bmx and the git still has it from the 80's.bet that will be worth a few quid?

anyone remember the raliegh 'bomber'?

in the end i had a racing bike which i had built myself from frame up,even used to lace my own wheels.
those were the days eh?proper bikes.

my kids dont even know how to change a brake/gear cable

I also had the Tomahawk then got upgraded to a Grifter with gears! Those were the days!

Oh man, you've brought back memories of bunny-hops and the local BMX track in the early 80's :D .......

Those were the days!!

A bit later than you guys - only the big boys had Choppers in my day!

I still cycle now.
This bike is actually 20lbs which is around the same weight as my last actual racebike a hand made Bob Jackson I had made in Leeds,
and yet it was the cheapest bottom of the range bike from this manufacturer..

My original Carlton Proffesional was stolen and the army lent me one of these. Their issue team bikes.. barely lightweight at all at 26lb but being only 10 stone at the time I still won the Army Cycling Championship on it.

Did you have a purple helmet to match ;) 1930`s Golden Sunbeam - lasted my grandfather 30 years 1950-1980  Eh they don`t make quality like that now .

I had a tomahawk and grifter. Then had many many raleigh burners of varying types....15-20 in total......my first was also stripped of its coating when it started looking crap, was difficult to get the coating off the welds though.
