Ooops, I just realised I posted this in the wrong place, so here it is again!

Hey everyone! :D I'm new to the whole DIY thing, and thought I'd better ask the experts before plunging ahead and ruining things! I'm wanting to repaint this old dog run:

ready for a new puppy. I have a few questions before I start though:

1. What do I do about all that green furry stuff that's growing on it? Is there some sort of chemicle I need to use, or do I scrub it with water, or will the fresh paint just cover it?

2. As the old paint is still clinging in flakes, how do I ensure the fresh stuff goes on smoothly? Do I prime it with something?

3. What sort of paint is puppy-safe? We aren't getting her for another month yet but I need to know she won't take harm from chewing it when we do get her.

4. Is there anything else I need to know that I've missed out?

Any help would be much appreciated!

I,d just sandpaper the worst of the green off, and paint with a decent wood stain, check the can for "pet-friendlyness"
Release the hounds! :D

I agree with that - sanding down and treating with wood stain will be less work, last a lot longer and look better too IMO.

I would use a good quality, water repellent, organic-based wood preserver.
