Noisy stinky bosch washing machine

I'm new to this so if this has already been discussed please forgive me! My Bosch exxcel 1200 washing machine has been brilliant up to now - to be fair it is 8 years old so should I be expecting a much longer life span? - I decided to put it on a boil wash to give it a clean out and since then it stinks! Like stagnant water, which was no way near as strong before as it is now. Also it has been making a bit of a racket as if something is caught in the drum, but it does it when the drum isnt spinning. I think its been making this noise for a while and i've always thought it was a zip and not paid much attention. Having two little ones, my washing pile never sees the bottom of the basket so i really need some advice!! Thank you!

Do you wash pet bedding? how "soiled" are the little ones clothes that you wash?

I don't wash any pet bedding and any soiled kids clothng gets thoroughly rinsed before going into the washing machine, I try not to leave it in there wet for too long. We've been leaving the door and drawer open to try to dry it out a bit. Any suggestions?

smell the rubber seal. does it smell bad? You could try a few service washes with Dr Beckmanns cleaning product or a small cup of soda crystals.

I've cleaned it with bleach, it didnt really smell that much before though. I bought some calgon to see if that works, not sure if the loud noise is limescale build up, although it makes the noise when its not spinning. I have put it on a 90 degree wash empty, is this the same as a service wash?

you should always leave the door ajar, although not sure how you will go about this if you have curious little ones

If its still smelly it could be a lot of scum build up which you have just 'cooked' with a 90c wash. You might have to try cleaning products a few times in a row to try and shift it. Bleach on its own won't remove it.

I always do at least one 60c wash per week and one 90c wash per month. What temps do you wash at?
