Walk in wardrobe interior advice

Hi,

I'm looking to build the interior for a walk in wardrobe that I've just put in. As its out of sight we don't need anything particularly fancy so I've decided to just use plain white 15mm contiboard.

The configuration is going to be in an L shape and be 2.1m high so that we have a top to put boxes on etc. I've been doing the design but I have a few questions and wondered if anyone could help?

1. At the end of the L I'm looking at just having two lengths of rails. The length is going to be about 1.2m though, would this work only being supported at each end? I'm also concerned about the length of the top being 1.2m and sagging?

2. When I'm dividing up the sections would it be okay to just have one 15mm panel or should I butt two together for extra strength as if they were seperate units being attached?

3. I want to include quite a few drawer units but I'm concerned about how long it would take to get these right doing it myself. Are there any cheap ready made drawers that I could use? I was looking at having those units ~750 wide.

You could use oval rail, stronger for long sections.
If you are worried about strength use 18mm mdf, [cheaper as well].Ikea do lots of internal wardrobe draws, easily modified for you use.You may need to adjust your dimensions to suit.

I fitted out the interior for a walk in wardrobe at my mums house using Ikea bits, a few drawers, lots of hanging space, shoe racks etc etc.

I was really pleased with the end job and it looks pretty professional in my eye. I think I used Pax wardrobe components but without the doors...

I was steering away from MDF as I didn't really want the hassle of painting them. Thought white contiboard would be easier.

Do you think the 15mm contiboard would sag over a 1.2m span?

Are the Ikea draws good quality? I might look into this option if they are.

Get white faced 18mm MDF its better than the 15mm chipboard but has the same surface finish, you will just need to lip the edges.

You can buy centre supports for hanging rail but I prefer not to go over 600mm long if possible.

I've just had a look at the drawers in Ikea online and they're too deep for what I'm trying to do.

Has anyone tried these before?

I presume I would just need to cut some board for the front, back and bottom?

You could use kicthen drawers lots of cheap online sites.
MDF does not have to be painted, one coat of danish oil wiped on give a dust free, sealed surface.

Does MDF coated in Danish oil look okay? I don't believe my local timber merchant sells melamine coated MDF so this could be a viable option.

Wipe a piece of mdf with a wet cloth the look you get it permanent with danish oil. We used a lot in offices for built in wardrobes.
