never done one before so not sure whats involved, and TBH time wise i would much rather pay someone to do it then i know its done properly and quickly, but not geting much joy getting anyone, my sparky mate is just too busy, he usually looks after the alarm stuff, but hes just became a grampa for the first time, and has far better things to do than homers after work ( and i totally agree with him) i have bought all the gear from the usual supplier as it was intended he would do it, but not now, think i will phone the shop and ask the boss in there if she will give me a number from one of her other customers
cheers

You seem to easily recommend people to diy alarm install. What happens if they get problems? Are you going to be able to help them? I bet you will end up leaving it to the pro's.

Are you going to be around at 3 in the morning to help them out because there external sab has gone off? Since you failed to tell them how to properly adjust the wall tamper switch?

i asked him if he could do it and whats putting him off, he has explained his reasons why.

and i will always encourage someone has a go at fitting there own alarm system and avoiding having to pay £100s to get it installed, after all this is a diy site, not a trade referal site, its not rocket science far from it.

I have no problem with someone diy alarm install. You just make it sound easy just like wiring a plug. Its not!

we will just have to disagree, from what i have read on here, the vast majority of diy installs go without a problem, personally i think the cable runs, drilling and mounting the bell box are the difficult bits.

haha ive done all the hard stuff then, all the cables are run and marked and terminated where the alarm goes, not really sure i fancy trying it as im always short of time, we have just had an extention built and the builder (who is a mate) asked if i was doing the plumbing i said no thanks get your guy to do it,

I agree, Its figuring how/where to run the cables and how to hide them when you need to. That takes years of experience. That’s one reason why you might get someone in.

Programming can be tricky or very difficult if you don't read the manual properly and understand it. Also if you don't understand the terminology used in it. This is one reason you might want a professional to install it.

The guy is a gas fitter so knows his way around a house.
