That is very interesting.

I agree. In fact, I have applied my linguistic faculties to this one and can conclude that whilst 'a cornice' generally refers to one individual piece/section/run (of the kind of decorative plaster which is set at right angles between a ceiling and a wall), the more generic term 'cornicing' refers both to the art of creating such decorative plaster, and to cornices generally, or in their entirety.

Cf 'stitches' and 'stitching'.

Peelaway 1 is more agressive than peelaway 7 as it is caustic-based, it works really well. There is a video of it being used on detailed plaster work here Peelaway Video

Hi All,

I think I have my head round everything now. I have used the Peel Away 1 and left it on for about 4 days. This is the test patch I did about 2 weeks ago now and have done more and is starting to look good. I hope you can all see the photos I have attacged:

Im no expert but have you considered graffiti remover there are several on the marker but of the ones I have tried the orange (citrus) based ones seemed to to work best
It would be a slow process but if it re-moves spray paint I see no reason why it wont soften up emulsion, the advantage with it is, it's not very corrosive like paint stripper. I have actualy used for cleaning paint off of plastic with no visable harm to the material the longer you leave it the deeper the penetration but some goes on bare plaster it should not harm it.

Just a thought
