Is it the name or are they genuinely worth the extra cost (quite often £60-70 more than what seems like-for-like competitors)?

3 reasons they cost so much

1 all the advertising to try and sell them

2 all the bits on them they do not need

3 not many people buy them so they can not get the cost down

I think the price must include a recycling tax judging by the number of them I see at the rubbish tip

forgot to say, they look much better than the henry, its a shame they do not work as well, but who cares what they look like if they suck well

Have had a DC03 for twelve years and still going strong. Also have a henry for heavy work.

British workers who built the company were stabbed in the back when production facilities moved to cheap labour countries, now they want us to spend exhorbitant amounts of money on their plastic gimmickry, no thanks Henry wins every time.

The problem I have with bagged system is that I find the dust particles can start slowing down the suctio. I am therefore definately going for a cylender type where you just empty the contents into a black bag and ready to go.

I also heard Dysons (especially the new ones) hardly ever lose suction power with time, and the fact that they have a 5 year guarantee, is always reassuring. Having said that, some of the much cheaper ones also have long a guarantee period.

Its true Dysons look much nicer than nearly all other hoovers out there, but my main concern is suction power i.e. the ability to give any area hoovered a real going over and not just the surface dust on the carpets.

It is for the home so I don't need real industrial site type hoovers. My home is a mix of wooden flooring and carpeting and it appears Dysons can change the brush type at the press of a button which I think will be really handy. I tend to find my old hoover wpuld start scratching the wooden flooring so I had to use a long brush.

the only reason they are still going is because of gullable people like you.
i use the Numatic Henry HVX200-22 in the house and the george in the workshop without the bag
