Hi wondering if anybody has any experience of this product and its noise reduction quality's , I have noisy neighbors and was thinking of dot and dabbing this to the upstairs wall that joins our semi detached property.
Thanks for any reply's

Waste of time dot and dabbing - noise travels across the dabs

which is the best method to use bearing in mind the boards would be fixed to the back of a full length wardrobe directly to the plastered wall, also keen to know if they do whats said on the tin saw them at Selco /also at Wicks

The boards are denser than normal plasterboard so do work to reduce passage of airborne sound.

You problem is sound coming through the structure, so you need to isolate your boards from the party wall for maximum effect

There are quite a few threads on here which give tips on sound isolation for this exact problem, or try the diy forum at www.avforums.com as the enthusiasts there know a bit about sound insulation

Ive not done it, but reading other information about I belive what you want to mount is 'resilient bars' which attach to the wall and allow you to hand the PB partially isolated.

Cost dependant I would have thought a sheet of 9mm behind the 12.5 bonded with something semi-flexable would do as good or better a job for less money.

ok so ive come to a solution, maybe not the best but it fits with my budget/skill set I intend to batten out the full length of the wardrobe then fit the 15ml acoustic plasterboard so it forms a 2inch cavity from the wall where the noise is coming from ,only question left is is it worth filling the cavity with anything and so whats best. I know this wont be perfect but hopefully it will at the very least dull some of the noise.

Use resilient bars to fix plasterboard to battens too. Google 'em!
only issue is this adds to the size of finished install using 50ml battens and the board is just about acceptable for my good lady re for the wardrobe depth reduction, doing it by simple battens would this not be worth while to part reduce the noise or would i be wasting my money time/effort .

Many thanks for any reply's

The point is using the bars is a low cost addition to a fairly feeble attempt IMHO but whether or not it is worth doing will be down to the end result and whether you thought they were worth it or not.

Insulating against sound is a funny old game, what's worthwhile (or not) to you may not be to me (and vice versa).

Ideally your battens need to be independent of the wall ie like a 25mm air gap between them and the wall effectively a stud partition built away from the wall, any sound is gonna go right through the battens when they're fixed back to the wall. But that's even more space zapped its the old compromise between space and sound insulation.

Anyhoo try 50mm of Rockwool Acoustic Slab as your insulation.

thanks for the reply I wasn't going to fix the battens directly to the wall but to the sides/top of the full length wardrobe frame that runs fully along the wall where the noise is coming from , it would be too bigger job for me to remove the wardrobe.

Perhaps if you buy the wife enough clothes they will act as insulation instead. ;)
