Tilig around bath

Hi

The gap for my bath is about 1710 and my bath is 1700 so if I were to tile down to the bath I will have a gap at one end.

I could tile the walls first though down below the level of the bath and it should just slot straight in.

I know that tiling to the bath is better but what problems will I have if I tile down behind and just slot the bath in and what solutions have you guys found?

Its always best not to cut corners.
You could dry line one end of the room(the easiest wall then slot bath in and tile overlapping bath for good seal.

Put silicone on b4 tiling around bath.
Then after tiling finish with nice silicone bead (good tip is to use fairy liquid on finger and run it along , makes really good finish)

Problem is with tiling then fitting bath is-
1- Not good seal and will leak
2-Tiling onto bath secures the bath it alot better, and reduces movement

But be aware , you need to fill bath with water, then silicone. you're then accounting for the drop thats gonna happen when weight is applied.

Also building tiles out with a thick bed of addeasive is just one big ball ache, (not recommended)

Like i said, boarding a wall with 9.5mm plaster board might seem a hassel but in fact its alot easier in the long run and will get you nom comebacks ......

If you go the way you said, i'd batten the bath out, with some 3x2 or summit? So the bath then sits on the batten as well as the legs giving brilliant support.
Batten out to height of bath panel, or youll have dropped a *******

One thing ive overlooked after that script!

Theres only 10mm in it !
If you're tiling both end of bath, whats the issue anyway???

Surely two tiles and the dab behind, gonna be over 10mm?????

Thanks for the advice. I will offer up the bath again tomorrow and do some more accurate measurements.

One of the reasons why I like the idea of tiling behind is because it is a rental
House and i thought it might be easier to replace the bath if it is just slotted in?

See what you're saying ,but tennant dont give a crap.
Before you know it there'll be mould all over, rotton floor boards and water through the ceiling.

Im dealing with same rubbish now.

Make sure you put a extracter fan in, which will operate at the right air flow rate (look up on net) . Dont just buyany rubbish because that will be the main problem....Humidity.....
