Hi Folks,

I have an attic room with a dormer plus two skylights (one in the room itself and one just outside in the stair well) that have badly corroded frames that are starting to leak.

I'd like to just replace them with new ones, but i'm struggling to find any that fit. They are narrow, the glass is 403 mm wide and 760 mm tall, so they fit in between the existing rafters.

I'd rather not cut the rafters, and have to get a building warrant plus structural engineer, but I'm having real trouble finding any roof windows that are that narrow.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Many thanks,

Jim

I'll give it a proper measure up tonight, but it appears to be around 450mm.

The smallest windows velux do are;
550 x 698 LP WDW GGL C01
550 x 780
These are overall sizes to fit between rafters.
Special order through Travis Perkins, 12 days lead time.

Hi Folks,

Right I had a good measure up.

One skylight is fitted between rafters that are 474mm apart and the other is fitted between 460mm rafters.

Anyone else know where I could find some roof windows that would fit? The closest I could find are these:

http://www.roofinglines.co.uk/product/?s=fenstro-windows&s=fenstro-skylight-45x73cm

But these are for uninhabited space... but this is a living-room / bedroom so probably not appropriate.

I've contacted Fakro about custom sizes, but haven't heard back yet. Any other ideas?

Jim

I think it is one of the conservation style skylights (we are not in a conservation area though, so can fit what we like) but all the conservation style rooflights I can see are for "uninhabited spaces", so might not be suitable for the room we have.
