just about to get a boiler installed, ive had only one in mind Vaillant ecotec plus 831..at £1100 plus fitting and parts...now another plumber recommended this new ferolli FERROLI-OPTIMAX-31-HE-PLUS..which is half the price of the vaillant plus 5 years warranty...i want your honest plumbers opinion...which to go for...the ferroli boiler i can get for just under £600 lol...damm thats cheap, but then cheap is not always the best is it,,

Would rather put a Ravenheat in than a ferroli much better construction
and performance.

Glow worm mid range boiler.

Valliant good build quality. Boilers are a bit big though.

My personal choice would be Atag if is going somewhere out of sight.

decided...im going for the vaillant 831...might get a vaillant installer to install it..will be 5 years warranty.. :D

It's the same as saying who would win in a football match Spain or The Isle on Man :D Spain being Vaillant

Just been looking at the new Ferroli Modena HE combi. No diverter valve or motor, no plate exchanger, less bits to go wrong. Cant be any worse than Ideal.

depends who plays for isle of man and who manages them lol  .....anyway...just collected my brand new vaillant 831.. ....im thinking now that maybe is should have paid that little bit extra and got a 837 instead...i have end terrace house 3 bedrsooms, loft converted into a room, kitchen extended, one bathroom..i have 12 rads in total..would this 831 be enough ?...gas safe plumber says its fine..i can take it back and get the 837...hmmmm..choices choices...what you guys think..?

831 will be fine.
The 837 wont perform any better unless your mains water supply is sufficient.

The 31kw is the hot water output not the heating output. A 3 bed house would not need anywhere near 31kw to heat, usually less than 20kw.

The Modena is a great wee boiler mate, we fitted 20 on a pilot scheme & we're well chuffed. It's so light & easy to fit, so far so good.

I find if you fit a cheap boiler in a manky system, well you're asking for trouble. If any boiler is fitted in a system that's as clean as Nun's knickers, fitted & commissioned correctly, you'll not have too many problems. As for installers; some poorly trained course cowboy is going to f.ck up every time, if you can't reapair a boiler, how can you install it correctly??

That should be the other way, if you can't install it, how can you repair it properly, there's a lot more guys out there who can install and can't repair than the other way round

You have to know how something works to know how to repair it, easiest way I found was fitting systems first

That's why when you do an apprentaship you do basic principles first such as install, that advanced systems , then service and repair of systems

Not sure how course cowboys do it, don't talk to any
