Can I bury a Gas Pipe to bottled gas?

We are in the process of knocking down a big block built shed and turning it into a garden.

At the end of the shed we had gas bottles as our village does not have mains gas. The pipe to these bottles used to run along the wall of the shed. We have had the bottles re-located temporarily, but in the long term we want them back where they were originally.

Can I dig a trench in the garden and lay the pipe in there? I know it is not going to be that simple, but if it is possible what is the law on how it is buried. I will be getting a corgi registered engineer to move the bottles and re-connect them, but to keep cost down I would like to do any work I can (ie digging the trench).

Corgi is long since dead the engineer you employ must be listed on GAAS SAFE REGISTER and licenced to carry out LPG work

Before doing anything find your engineer and explain that you would like to dig the trench (he will bite your arm off!!) and he will give you details of how deep and the route that your trench will have to follow
