Is sealing new plaster still done with a watery solution of wallpaper paste or have the techniques changed over the years? The plasterer recommended a watered down PVA mix if I am to paper the new walls or a mist coat if I am going to paint directly on to the new plaster.
I think that I would prefer to line the walls first with lining paper and then paint just because I will know that when I re-decorate, there will never be a problem with flaking paint that I can't solve by just stripping the lining paper. What do the professionals think?
