Water Softener Advice

We're looking at a installing a water softener in our 3 bed house to overcome the Norfolk hard water.

The plan is to plumb it in to feed the showers and hot taps through running in some pipe alterations. [Edit - also planning to change to unvented cylinder at the same time]

I hear metered softeners are better than timed ones...which softeners would people recomend. Having a water meter I'd like the regeneration to not use too much water.

We would normally suggest an AD11 or Ultra 9 from tapworks.

The latter is expensive but smaller than its AD11 brother.
