Half empty Olympic stadiums.

Really, you want sponsors to become responsible for enforcing ticket use?

It really is simple matey-boy - on the ticket it says this ticket must be confirmed by (whatever date), or this ticket becomes void. ;)

Recognize the sponsers contribution by a small discount in the purchase rate

You are missing the point, sponsors get tickets, it's nothing to do with how much they pay for them (and frankly it's part of the negotiation how much they sponsor vs number of tickets, so your comment is a little silly).

They give them away (like all those "buy this item and be entered in a lottery for a ticket).

It's the people who receive the tickets then not using them that is the "issue", they can't sell them or even give them away, so they go in the bin, rather than on ebay.

And the solution is no "well then don't give sponsors tickets", because then you get less sponsors and more taxpayer money has to be coughed up.

wrong.

Vearing ever so slightly of topic, my neighbour worked for Minolta a few years ago who sponsored a Japeneese rider Shinia Nakado, about 10yrs ago, i asked him on numerous occaisions if he could obtain any free tickets, the closest i got was at a function put on for employees his manager asked, who should they give two hospitality tickets to for MotoGP, and in a conversation a few weeks later the geezer had given them away to an office worker as he would rather watch paint dry than motorbikes going round in circles.

Hospitality tickets FFS, i think only formula1 would have been slightly more exotic.

I work at Hampton Court Palace and we have been told not allowed to watch time trial out the window - had email last week saying that - some watched out closed window this morning and we got email this morning saying anyone looking out window had to stop immediately due to complaints from olympic officials

What a bl**dy miserable scroogelike attitude!!!
What are they gonna do if people look out of their bedroom windows while the riders go past, arrest them for looking while not being part of the "olympic family"? wa&*%rs

this was sencond email:

Dear All

Please note that LOCOG have already complained that people are looking through windows at what is happening on the West Front even though you have been requested not to.

PLEASE STOP THIS IMMEDIATELY

----------------------------------------

the please stop this immediately was in bold red letters lol

I wouldn't leave it at that. Why not forward the emails annonymously to someone like the daily mail. They'd have a field day with that, and someone needs slapping down there.

I must say though, I hope the cameras do a close up on those chimneys, so people can see how magnificent the brickwork is.

Yup. It's a joke.

Some hack from the Mirror tried to buy a ticket the other day after being told more were available and indeed some were.... at £725
a pop... the cheaper tickets (still hundreds of pounds) were sold out.

just about all businesses around canary wharf were given a lot of free tickets as a bribe for the horrendous disruption it would cause, these were either sold or given away to staff, and any remaining were returned. They were good tickets too, mens 100m finals etc....
