I have bought some round walls. The case is metal and cantains all of the connectors, but there is no back to them. One light is being fixed to a plasterboard wall, the other to a very solid brick wall. Do I need to use any sort of pattress box with these lights or can I simply screw them straight to the wall?

Thank you.

James.

Are they mounted with screws through the front of the base plate?
Pictures would be a great help.

Looks like a reviewer thinks they are awkward to fit, but if everything is in the box and you follow the instructions, you won't go far wrong.

Cons: bad fitting

"These lights look really good and offer excellent value for money. They are however quite badly designed which makes them unnecessarily difficult to fit. You have to drill holes for them perfectly level, as the only adjustment is left/right, rather than up/down. There's not much space to fit the wires in, but that probably can't be helped due to their size. Finally, getting the screws in is tricky as they are between the wall and the lamp so you have little space to work in. This is definitely a two person job, as one of you needs to hold the lamp next to the wall while the other screws in the plate etc.

Annoyingly, my local branch of Wickes doesn't stock replacement bulbs which is particularly unfortunate as one blew within minutes of being fitted."

Catceefer - he's right about the short life of those lamps - you'll need to make sure you have ample spares.

And loadsamoney to pay the electricity bills.

And stocks of paint, as the walls and ceiling above the lights will discolour quite quickly, and need frequent renovating

Thank you for the replies. I think that I shall be returning them to Wickes in exchange for something different. We have recessed lights with GU10 bulbs in the kitchen and replacing them is bad enough. I have no wish to be fitting something else in another room that is even worse.

Regards,

James.
