My House renovation in Slovakia Blog.

Have to take car of granny you know :)
I'm actually South African but moved to SK after 7 years in London.
I work in Kosice but stay close to Presov in late grandma's house in the village which we are doing up for ourselves.

What kind of work do you do in Kosice.

I just finished my 3 year course at the Technical University there..

Must be quite the difference having lived in London!

I work at T-Systems.
I grew up in a small town in SA so not that unfamiliar... :D

Ahhh, everyone seems to work for "the devil" around here..

Still going.. amazed virtually nobody has commented at all!

Been enjoying reading through this. Im impressed with the proper stone wall, too many people go for the faux stone crap these days.

Hi

Im really interested in your experiences here, I have a Slovak wife of 10 years and have finally agreed to up sticks and move Slovakia, economically it makes sense as I work in London and at least initially now you can direct flights to Kosice again (based in small village just outside of michalovce), her mother has offered up the family home to us, which she'll transfer over but needs a fair amount of work to get up to std fairly typical, so plan for extention, 2nd floor into the loft, and my structural engineer brother in law says some of the walls need knocking down and rebuilding but foundations are really solid. How is your build getting on? Can you recommend any English speaking builders/contractors whilst it sort of doesn't matter I would prefer to deal direct rather than through the wife or mother in law.
