Got a set of MDF victorian doors by Johnson who have now gone bump. The two main panels are glazed.

I need to split one door down to make a bifold as bath is too near door.

As its a bathroom no gap can be had down centre so should i split it then rout out a rebate or use a piano hinge from top to bottom.

Split will be right down the centre stile which i believe to be solid.

Help/advice appeaciated.

Thanks

Could the door swing the other way?If not rip the door down the middle and take it from there ,rebated joint would be a good job ,piano hinge would be a lot easier .

Thanks for replies

Got a job lot of these from auction they are a cracking door. As Johnson have gone bump cant get a match so im left in this position.

Thought about reversing the swing but looks crap as completely blocks hallway and hits radiator.

Im with you on piano hinge as it will be easier and cover all problems except finish.

Any tips for fitting this hinge or where to get it as they seem pretty narrow from the sheds.

Cheers

just a thought

glazed mdf ??how are they constructed will there be enough left in each half for strength what construction is along the center rail/style ??
