Popcorn?

Both are ok brands.

My Milwaukee 12V kit is robust enough in use but little things let it down.
LED stopped working within weeks, Torque setting adjuster 'click stop' not clicking (for want of a more accurate description) failed. Not show stoppers though.

My Makita 18V range is rock solid though. Great kit.

Bloke in the suppliers the other day was cursing Milwaukee. His 18V drill had packed up after only 3 months. Repair loop was going to take over 3 weeks. Like he said, with loss of earnings with no drill, cheaper to buy a new one - but not Milwaukee.

I always used to buy milwaukee but i think its not the tool it used to be
Use an 18v makita combi at work and its a strong piece of kit i would definately buy myself

I heard milwaukee was aeg re badged and styled I never got on with them
all my makita tools go like a storm for ever

I thought they were the old Atlas Copco.

So what one would you go for ?????
Makita 451

You can usually get in a 2 unit set, the LXT202.
You get the drill, impact driver, 2 batts , charger and case.
Buy right and it's the same price, or near enough, as just the drill.

makita cover all the bases the cheap Nicad ones are great value for money especially the 2and 3drill kits with drills and impact drivers ive put 6" screw bolts into oak green oak with no pilot holes with a 14.4v NMH type drill, even those pock size 10.5v are very fiesty I fixed some kiln dried oak with 3"/12 screws no problem loads of power left .the 18v Lion's will rip your arms off all day

go for the Makita, had a couple of Milwaukee drills in the past, first one packed up, just out of warranty, got them to replace it at a decent discount, (I thought it should have been free considering how little work it had done), then the replacement didn't last much longer, Atlas Copco used to be good

every brand has its faults really, bosch batts offer poor lifespan for example but good warrante and repair. Milwaukee and aeg share some common parts but the aeg range in general has cheaper build quality/materials.

my makita 18v lxt combi failed because of cheap plastic parts on gear change but the rest of the range that i have is great.

swings and roundabouts.
