my piaggio liberty 50cc scooter is not very reliable starting, it starts ok in the garage left all night but when i leave it outside all day at work it sometimes dont start seems to turn over but wont start so kick start it

so thinking of getting a new battery the one ive got is MF cb9 bs super sealed, so do i need to buy same or buy similar on e bay although i see that buying a different one after filling it with acid needs to be charged which i havent got so probably cheaper buying s/sealed
so there answered my own question :D cheers P M

So long as your battery is held in the vertical position, it won't make any difference between a super sealed or acid added type.
The acid added battery will be dry charged and will come to life as soon as the acid is added - a 20 minute run will top it up completely.
Some things to check, which may or may not be marked on the battery case are: CCA (Cold Cranking Amps), and A/h (Amps per hour).
Try to get a battery with the same specification as the one you are discarding, and if you can get a higher spec one in the existing battery box, so much the better.
As ch has said, Varta are a first class make, and Yuasa is very common with Japanese original equipment.
John :)

Could be the starter motor cog needs grease, had one of those and it can sieze if not well greased, or the casing has been off and not fitted back correctly, binds on kickstart.

scoot batteries never seem to last long, I dont know if they overcharge them of something, but mine used to last 12-18 months, even Vartas, that was a Yamaha.
The one on my '75 suki 125 did better, but I never noticed cos it didnt have electric start.
