I am hoping someone can help me.....

I have a heatslave 15/19 boiler and have had it serviced every year (for the last 6 years). The service is due in a couple of months, but we have have a problem.

I have bled the rads over the weekend and now the heating or water does not work. When I turn the boiler off and back on again, it kicks starts, but then cuts out after a couple of minutes.
The pressure is ready 1.0, as from what I have read, this is a little low, but wouldn't stop it from working.
I have taken the top cover off the boiler and bled all three allen key valves - There was alot of air in and I have since bled them on 2 other occasions, both of which air comes out.
The thermostat for the hot water clicks when you turn it from low to high, but there is no click on the CH (not sure if this is relevant).
I did call out an engineer yesterday who took one look at a blonde lady, scratched and said 'it all seems OK and should work if you leave it on all day, if not, I will come back and need to strip the lot which is going to cost you'.
Reading between the lines, it seems like everything seems to be working as it should, so should be a little problem.
I have also called worcester bosch and they told me to locate a silver flexible hose and bleed it - does anyone know where this is located?

Can anyone offer any help?
Please bear in mind, I am not technical minded and have no experince with boilers.......

Thanks in advance.

I dont understand why the engineer says its OK and you dont think it is!

You have been doing a lot of bleeding. Thats risky! I dont understand why so many people do it when there is no need to. It causes a lot of problems when they dont know how to increase the pressure. If its working dont touch it.

If you bleed air out then you need to replace it with water. Increase your pressure to 1.5 Bar. Your gauge might be jammed!

Tony,

Thanks for the reply.
The only reason I dont think it is working is that I still have no hot water and no CH and I did as he said and left it all running all day yesterday, woke up this morning freezing and no hot water.
How do I increase the pressure?

Thanks

NEVER bleed radiators unless you know how to top up the pressure!

The engineer should have shown you.

Its a valve at the end of the silver flexible hose.

See the FAQ on this site for pictures!

OK - Thanks Tony.
Will have a look when I get back.
Just need to find the pictures on here now lol (I am new to this site too).

Thanks again.

Looking at the user manual for the Heatslave 15/19 - I wondered why I couldn't find the valve last night when I looked for it - IT IS BROKEN OFF!
all that remains is a little brass stump.
If I turn it using pliers, will it make any sound to indicate it is working? Do I need to leave it turned on or turn it off?

Thanks

I will take some in the morning and post. The boiler is in the outbuilding and not only is it dark, it is freezing.
I hope someone can help...

Turn the tap through 90 degrees, there may also be one at the other end of the hose. when water passes through you should hear it. When you bleed, don't forget the pump, with the large screw in the middle. If the hot water stat clicks but the heating one doesn't, it would suggest that the boiler is up to temperature, but no circulation, so bleed the pump and the three bleeds on the boiler and the heatstore pipework. Also check that the bleed is open on the heatstore auto air vent.

Should have added, if you need to call an engineer, then choose a different one to the one you've had. If stuck, leave a contact message in my profile.

Yes you will be able to hear the water filling the system. As it fills you should see the pressure rise. You need to shut the valve off at 1.5 bar. This is where I see a possible problem if you are using pliers and can't shut it off for some reason you will end up with too much pressure.

If you do attempt it make sure you have access to your mains stop tap and that it isn't seized.

If the valve with the broken handle is the same as the one behind your washing machine you could borrow the handle off it.

EDIT: Didn't realise oilhead was replying as I (slowly) wrote this.
