Hi there

Im having a problem with our bosch exxcel dishwasher (sms63e09gb/07)
I am getting an error code 23 , does anyone know what this is?
Im quite a competent person to be able to fix as im a industrial electrician but without the code I dont know where to start.
Thankyou in advance
Carl

An E23 error indicates that the resistance values of drain pump are wrong...in reality it is rarely that straight forward.
This model has a BLDC drain pump (and circulation motor). Both have 3 phase windings & can't be tested like conventional single phase motors. All you can do is make sure the pump impellor isn't jammed, check the plug connection/wiring integrity, & measure the resistance of the windings (which should read 80 - 85Ω across all 3 terminals). There have been many issues with this particular design. It isn't easy to troubleshoot or dismantle (the baseplate is not removable). If you don't find anything obvious with the drain pump it might save you a lot of time & frustration by getting a Bosch engineer to take a peek at it.

Ok thanks for that is it not worth putting a new drain pump on?, I have taken the front cover off and removed the kick plate at the bottom and that seems to give me just enough access.

A new pump costs around £30....not expensive. But if that doesn't solve your problem then you could be looking at a new pcb...which is expensive (£150). I don't like this particular design & have had a few machines where I had to change the pcb (after first changing the pump for an E23 error). I guess the inverter module just wasn't up to scratch on some of these models. Not that this has to be the case with yours of course. However I would still check the motor plug, cabling, & the resistance is 80 to 85Ω across all 3 motor terminals. If the winding resistance is unbalanced the pump is history anyway. BTW; how old is this machine?
