Hi

I've been doing a lot of research into wireless alarm systems and a lot of what I am reading points to the Honeywell Galaxy as being the top of the range wireless system

Is this correct, or would I be better looking at another option such as

Risco
Scantronic
Visonic

Paying the top price doesn't always mean that you are getting the top of the range. I have heard good comments on each of the suggestions, but are you absolutely sure you need "emphasis on need" the best wireless. And then there's the question of 'why is it best ?' in some people's opinions. Is it because they have never used any other wireless equipment or is it because they've used every piece of wireless on the market. At the moment I favour Scantronic simply because we happen to be using it on a regular basis and it's working fine, but it is not the most expensive system and were I to work on another product tomorrow then I would have no qualms about that. From a personal viewpoint, provided you are not buying a cheapy diy system, and you're going for fairly good gear then I would tend to go for somewhere in the middle price range, particularly if you are doing a domestic with little or no prospect of major jamming. Just to reiterate, all the above are good systems and worth considering, but also think about how much you are prepared to spend.

I've heard some good comments about the Ricochet, is it top price or about middle. Apparently the detectors are linked, don't know much about it, only the good comments I've heard.

cannot really answer your last question as we dont fit it!!
but i have heard good things about there kit from other installers i know,

but we stck to Honeywell Galaxy, never had any problems with there kit

ricochet talks between detectors up to 2 "hops" to find the best route back to the panel, so improving the radio reception between the panel and devices unlike most other wire free detectors. had no problems up to now with the equipment.

Thanks,

Does the ricochet panel interrogate the detection devices (talks to them ?) in order to ascertain their integrity, and at what frequency ( how often in minutes ?) If that makes any sense.

Do you have a shortcut to the website since I am unable to locate it ?

Got to admit I'm a Galaxy man thru and thru but was disappointed with their RF range, but I really like the sound of the concept of Texecom kit, have seen the promo stuff but never installed/maintained.

"... Use the tabs on top of page...."

Thanks for your help,

It's appreciated.
