I've heard that spax screws are pretty good and for laying my 18mm ply floor down they'd be good? They seem quite expensive and I wondered if anyone had a better idea for the screws to use?

I usually shop at tool station and use cheap and cheerful screws.

Thanks for your reply.

When you say cheaper.... do you mean the really cheap ones from Toolstation or would you pay a bit more for a better screw?

Thanks

As are screwfix 'Quicksilver range'

If your using a lot, are never planning to take it up again, and can afford to have the odd screw go wrong, the cost of the more expensive screws is prohibertive. However, they are nice, and become increasing important once you get into the larger/longer sizes. Torx screws are my fav, but not overly common in the UK.

hi guys and girls my first ever post, after reading through the forum i came across this topic and i had to sign up, please dont take the advice that 'quick silver' screws are of a simular quality to spax! far far from it, if u are looking for a good quality screw at a low price i strongly recomend 'turbo gold' avalible at screw fix and trade point at very good prices especialy if u buy the trade pack often on sale price, i made the mistake of buying quick silver screws, ended up giving them away they are a terrible screw,

i hope this helps

May not clearly enough, but I was suggesting the Quick Silver as being a 'cheap but usally good enough' screw alongside the toolstation offering rather than on a par with the Spax.
