Scottish independence

I'm pretty sure there are more Scots living south of the border than in Scotland.

Do they get to vote?

Will they become illeagle immigrants?

Will i need a passport to visit my daughter in Glasgow?

Most importantly how will it affect the price of Scotlands finest export??

A teuchter is a derogatory term used by Glaswegians for anyone not from Glesga. Apart from Edinburgh folk, they are edinbuggers. Glaswegians, and anyone who sound like they are from the west coast are referred to as weegies. We all love each other really

A teuchter, was (and still is) a derogatory term that lowland Scot's use for any inhabitant if the heilands (highlands) o that braw bonnie land.
Having said that (as a Scot who has lived in England for the last 46 yrs) I cannot see that Independence from the UK would help Scotland at all. Personally, I think a "Yes" vote would doom Scotland to, rule from Europe (as Salmond would beg steal and borrow heavily from the EU) I think within a few years Salmond would be joining the Euro, bringing Scotland, into line with Greece, Spain and Italy (notice I didn't say Germany) as failing economies.
Bad move for the Scot's if the vote is anything but NO.

That's the problem as I see it.

I think Scotland and England would benefit being separated, but staying closely tied together (no reason we can't have a joint defence force, we don't really need Scotland portion of the military if we decide to go on a middle eastern jolly), no reason we can't keep our open borders and other arrangements.

But salmond seems to a complete tosspott little Scotlander, only out to make his own name. Independence under salmond would be a ****ing disaster for scotland, hopefully if they vote yes, they don't let him drag them down with stupid socialist over spending and dragging them into the EU.

Salmond on currency.....

The SNP's answer so far is that Scotland would retain the pound sterling, until such time as Scots choose, in a referendum, to join the euro.

I see no reason why Scotland can't make it's own currency, but that's a difficult option, far easier to just sell out Scotland to the Euro.

Apparently on the eve of the big vote in 2014, in order to garner support for the YES vote, Braveheart will be shown on tv. But as with all political events, in order to balance matters, Trainspotting will be shown immediately afterwards!

Scots can in no way afford true independence....

Yes they can.

If they go independent they could go back to Scottish currency, which would be worth less, the state would pay out it's workers and dependencies in Scottish currency (with probably some cut's but less than if they stick with the pound, if they Stick with the pound this would tie them in with a currency they no longer have any control or stake in).

They could of course adopt the Euro, would be funny to see them join the slow lane in two speed Europe.

Scotland is the same part as England, Wales & Ireland therefore part of the European, If Scotland leaves the UK then Scotland would have to get by without any subsidies from the English taxpayers. Somehow I can't see how they will get by whereas there approximately nearly 6 millions population and out of that there's roughly 180,000 Scottish taxpayers and the English subsidies the rest which will not be available to them.

Working Age Population: 2,475,386 (2007 est.)

Employment Rate (% of adults of working age): 78.7 (2007)

= 1.9 million employed

Veeeery slightly more than 180k.

In the beginning, the lord god almighty, sitting on his throne on high, turned to his mate, the Archangel Gabriel, and said "Gabby, today I'm going to create Scotland.

I will make it a country of dark beautiful mountains, purple glens and rich green forests. I will give it clear, swift flowing rivers and I will fill them with salmon. The land shall be lush and fertile, on which the people shall grow barley to brew into an amber nectar that will be much sought after the world over. Underneath the land I shall lay rich seams of coal.

In the waters around the shores there will be an abundance of fish and beneath the sea bed there will be cast deposits of oil and gas."

"Excuse me Sire", interrupted the Archangel Gabriel, "Don't you think you are being a bit too generous to these Scots"?

"**** no", replied the Lord, "wait till you see the neighbours I'm giving them"!!!

THE ARAB SHEIK AND THE SCOT.

An Arab Sheik was admitted to St. Vincent's Hospital for heart surgery. But prior to the surgery, the doctors needed to store his blood in case the need arose.

As the gentleman had a rare type of blood, it couldn't be found locally, so the call went out to all the states.

Finally a Scot was located who had a similar blood type. The Scot willingly donated his blood for the Arab. After the surgery, the Arab sent the Scotsman ,as appreciation for giving his blood, a new BMW, diamonds and lots of US dollars.

A couple of days later, once again, the Arab had to go through corrective surgery, His doctor telephoned the Scotsman again, who was more than happy to donate his blood for the second time.

After the surgery, the Arab sent the Scotsman a thank-you card and a jar of candies. The Scotsman was shocked that the Arab this time did not reciprocate his kind gesture as he had anticipated.

He phoned the Arab and asked him: "I thought you would be generous again, that you would give me a BMW, diamonds and money... But you only gave me a thank-you card and a jar of candies."

To this the Arab replied: "Aye, but I now have Scottish blood in my veins,"
