I am extending my roof and have a sitiation where the existing sarking boards (6 x 1 softwood boards) will butt up against the new boards. There is a small gap (say 2-3mm) bewteen the ends of the boards which is, unfortunately, exactly where some of the slate hooks need to land.

Can anybody recommend a product that I can use to fill the gaps between the ends of the boards that will set to be nice and solid so that it will grip a nail that is driven into it but not so solid that it will crack?

I need something that is halfway between mastic and a resin anchor!

Thanks
AA

What are two part wood fillers like for being able to nail into?

why not cut an inch or two off the old boards?
