I have a vokera compact boiler been paying a maintenance plan for it . Had an engineer out 15 or more times last winter boiler keeps going to red.. Starts up fine evrytime I turn it back on . Problem is still the same with boiler engineers can`t work out what is wrong with it. It had a blocked flexi pipe going into the boiler engineer crimped pipe with pliers and blocked the whole system they had to replace the pump twice and numerous other parts that he had damaged..but original problem is still there it can stay on sometines for a couple of hours other times cuts out 10 mins after turning it on..Problem is the same whether it is turned to water only or radiators and water. Any advice would be much appreciated[wiki][/wiki]

compact or compact HE?, solid red light or flashing?, any strange noises from the boiler? does it happen more in the morning or night?, on heating or water?

The solid red light can mean various different faults, primary sensor, venturi, pcb etc.

Flashing red light possible overheat.

If you're not happy with the engineer perhaps ask for a different engineer or company?

Hi thanks for ur reply it is a Vokera Campact...It is a solid red light no strange noises coming from boiler ..It happens all the time whether it is on water or heating and morning or night there is no differece...Originally they thought it was the heat sensors that were not working replaced them twice made no difference....I think the colder the temp outside the quicker boiler shuts down ..Is that just a coincidence?

The 2 main things that I've had with these are the venturi's and the small pcb which slots on to the main pcb, who do you have boiler cover with?

What have they tried to resolve the lockout issue? I'd just pester them until they got it right, ya never know if they replace enough parts they might get lucky

I know just don`t trust the company they caused more problems than actually trying to fix it...Scared to move to another company because they had to replace so many parts that they broke .Maybe another company won`t touch it with a barge pole ....Thanks for ur advice may suggest these to them....

With such an old boiler you are lucky to find any company to give you cover!

Miaow, you should be scared to stay with this mob. Perhaps by now hardened to take it on the chin without flinching.

Some good guys in Glasgow who can and do work on boilers without clocking up the 'air miles'. Google Vokera and see what comes up for boiler repairs

;)
