Hi all,
so i'd prefer to tile to the bottom of the wall and put the skirting on after as it will be neater, plus the skirting is fairly low profile finishing in a pretty fine point at the top and tiling down to the top of it would look daft.
However if i do tile under the skirting then that means i have to tile under the arcs as well, which i don't want to do cos then i'd see the tile edge sandwiched between the door frame and arcs, get my drift?

If i tile up to the arcs then when i put the skirting on it will stand prouder than the arcs if you see what i mean?

Your thoughts please? Any way around this?

Fit your skirting after tiling and use thicker architrave to make up the difference, or pack your architrave out to suit with stripwood.

or rebate the back of the architrave to accept the tile thickness.

If you rebate the architrave the skirting will stand proud of it. Packing will allow for tile thickness

Depends on the relative thicknesses of skirting and architraves.

Hmmm.....really not sure which way i want to do this. I'd prefer NOT to have to 'pack out' the arcs with a slither of wood as it then makes the door look more recessed so to speak. As of now, I've tiled up to the line of the arc, so the tiles won't go underneath the arcs. That's not to say i still can't pack them out if i decide to tile under the skirting though.

Seeing as the skirting is double ended, with the other end being bullnose i could use that end, which would not look as daft if i tiled down to the top of it.
BUT....the other end is what matches the arcs.

Darnit!!!
