expansion gaps

im about to lay new laminate and have read that i should NOT leave the cork edging in the expansion gaps, is this correct ?

also i have read that as laminate is not real wood i ay not have to leave expansion gaps at all ?

your source is wrong
never ever fill the expansion gap just cover it or undercut the frames

you must always allow 12mm expansion [or more] unless with experience you know you can reduce the expansion gap sightly

thats what i thought so why do all stores recomment, seems to be a sales tactic
 
77 - chuck 'em on the fire and leave nothing in the gaps. The only use that you can put the cork strips to is as an aid to floor construction. Put the cork along your first wall and leave it there whilst assembling the rest of the floor as this'll prevent the floor 'shifting' whilst you lay it. BUT, BUT, BUT remember to remove it when finished. In reality, you don't even need to use them in assembly.
