Hello,
Ever since I fitted a water softener, I've noticed small dark stains appearing in chrome fittings, taps, shower etc that cant be removed, they are barely visible but it's as if they are embedded within the chrome itself. The taps are HansGrohe, so not exactly poor quality.
I wonder if anyone has evidence of softened water causing a problem with chrome plating ?

Many thanks

It ain`t the softener  We`ve got one and the chrome and basin / bath etc sparkle - you`ve got dodgy chrome plate M8 .

I could understand faulty chrome plating if one tap or one fitting could be stained, but it seems like all chrome fittings are affected. The chrome still sparkles when polished, but like I said, it has slight dark imperfections.

Hi, interested to read this, as I am having a battle with Grohe at present regarding dark stains, which are unmoveable even with Grohe CLean.

We do have an ion-exchange water softener ,but have no marks on the bath and basin taps which are a different make !

Grohe are denying all responsibility !

Has anyone else had the same problems ? I would be interested to hear. Thanks
