Hedgehogs

Here's a couple of webcams of orphan hedgehogs I found recently. They were all underweight at 200g, so they are here for the winter. We found the one on camera 2 first. He now weighs 550g and is nearly ready for moving to a cooler environment. The other 2 are 250g - 300g

How sweet!

Can you go and kick the boxes to wake them up as I can't see them!! (I jest)

:D Yes, they are not the most co-operative of movie stars.

They are only about in the day when hungry, but are usually quite active early evening and morning.

They are lovely creatures and keep the snails at bay .

Will be looking in regularly. :D

Just told SWMBO about a fella on internet who's got cameras on orphaned hedgehogs.

"Must be difficult putting a camera on a hedgehog" says she.

Honestly, you couldn't make it up!

Hedgehogs have been "dissapeared" from our kneck of the woods, the last i saw of them was shortly before we lost all our foxes to mange, i personally suspect Bristol university are to blame, they are always monitoring the foxes in the city..

Do they eat slugs too?? Our back yard is full of slugs this year for some reason - might have to get me a couple of hedgehogs if they'll see to them!!

Should never give hedgehogs milk, they cant digest it and can dehydrate!

Slugs only form about 4% of their diet. They are actually not good for hedgehogs as they cause lungworm infections.

Cows milk is also bad as previously mentioned. Goats milk is preferable for hoglets, but water is all they need.
