Hey Folks!

I'm about to install a shower - this requires a studwall.

Is it preferred to use WBP ply, plasterboard, or something else?
In which case, any preferred thickness or finish/type/spec?
I kinda assume [nominal] 2 x 3" will be chunky enough for the studs?

IS 18mm WBP ply thick enough for a floor to receive tiles or?? 22mm, 25mm........? Will be replacing blown chipboard!

Thanks

Do a search in google and type in "shower tanking" for more information.

4"x2" will be stronger and give you more room to hide pipes and mixer etc

18mm will be fine but make sure you put in extra noggins on the return of the plywood so all the joint is on the centre of the joist.

Aquapanel or simlar (hardibacker) is what you require for the shower area and then tank it as suggested above.

For ply directly onto joists, the answer depends on how far apart the joists are and how thick the joists are, if it's chipboard I'd imagine it a relatively new construction so the joists are likely to be on 400mm centres.

I'd want a minimum 22mm ply preferably 25mm WBP.
