Cable Glands 20mm type I have a couple of dozen in my shed all new, the other day I was going to use two on a IP plastic box outdoors.

None of the glands had the rubber sealing ring which is required for outdoors I could not source any and found that is almost impossible to find any complete units with the gasket, I tried CEF and Screwfix.

So can anyone point me at a supplier of the rubber seals please.

Are you talig about the rubber inserts which grip and seal the cable when the gland is tightened? If so, I would suspect that it might be difficult to find them for sale alone (except perhaps on eBay). Whole glands (with the inserts) are so cheap that it may make sense just to buy new ones.

Kind Regards, John

No I am talking about the sealing flat rubber washer/gasket that goes between the outer nut and the surface of the ip box to prevent water ingress.

Since I made my first post I found at BQ a pair of complete units including the seal at nearly £4!! day light robbery but I was desperate.

There must be a supplier of the seals somewhere I looked at RS as suggested but O rings are no good they have to be flat.

Oh, I see. One (at least, I!) usually sees the glands sold without them.

A Google search for "rubber washers" (with the quotation marks) yields nearly half a million hits, so it probably wouldn't be hard to find some. However, | suspect that you'd have to either buy hundreds from most suppliers, or pay B&Q prices!

Glad you've found them, at least. If you costed in your time, that may well be much cheaper than spending ages looking for a 'cheaper' source of washers!

Would 22mm plumbing washers do the job? Or get a mini tube of silicone down the pound shop. It can be done without it looking like a bird sh@t all over it.

at 31p each you may as well just buy a whole gland. You can a whole gland for not much more than that (if not cheaper)
