To quote the voiceover - 'in one hour you can get 10 degrees difference in your house'
- but if one of those plastic containers of used engine oil   springs a leak, you house can be converted to a smouldering wreck.

Can't help but notice......he mentions having to keep the oil warm
with an immersion heater. I presume it is too viscous if cold.

The price of petrol has gone down a bit lately, wouldn't it be a better idea
using petrol for this setup instead? Keep things a bit more simple?

The oil flows and burns better if less viscous.

The engine oil will burn hotter, as well as being less volatile to store and use. I imagine that oil would be more economical than petrol, in the same way as a diesel car gets more MPG than a petrol version. Don't forget that used engine oil is normally free, but petrol is expensive.

These things can give a fair bit of heat, as in this video.

Using old engine oil is even cheaper when you bear in mind that garages here have to pay for it to be taken away... My pal has a garage fitted with a Polish made engine oil burner... Dead simple and works very well...

By the way, the boiler in the vid appears to be of better quality than the current Worcester Greenstar Camray oil boiler..
