I tried to rip a dvd to a divx or Windows Media file and I always get an error that says ( Video Buffer Full ) it records about 10% then the error appears, is there anything I can do to get rid of this error and have it rip my DVD.

It sounds like you are filling the buffer quicker than you are emptying it. Can you post full details of your system and the software you are using.

Software is #1 DVD Ripper v1.3.39

System is a Dell Dimension 2300 - Pentium(R) 4 - 1.8 GHZ with 1 GB of RAM running Windows XP SP2

Thank you

I have to admit, this isn't my area of expertise.

First check the website for updates as I believe they are up to release 1.3.48 after some bug fixes

Also, try some other software to eliminate possible compatibility problems. Try this for example.

Let me know how you get on.

might be a silly question but have you ceased all other tasks whilst ripping including not touching keyboard or mouse?

Do you have enough disk space (If the software is ripping to an uncompressed AVI or MPEG first the amount of disk space required would be massive) Check the disk space at 9% complete. I've heard that ImToo is good at this kind of thing, have you tried using different software?

Igorian: I did not think about checking for updates, I will try that and thanks for the link and your help.

I tried another program and now it is working, but it takes a long time to rip one DVD. Its better than nothing )

Kendor: I do the ripping when I sleep and no one has access to my machine. Thanks for your help.

Darude: I have over 55GB free space on my drive and I did use another software and it works fine, and yes, I shut down all non essential programs from the task manager and still the error comes up. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for all the help and thanks for the link. I will try that one on another machine before I try it on this one.

you may try another dvd ripper like yasa dvd ripper. It works well to me with high quality video output so far.

I see you have it working and all, but heres my two cents

(in my opinion)
First things first, You should copy the dvd to your harddisc using dvddecrypter. This program is brilliant and is freeware too.

Once you have the dvd files on your hard disc, you can use a ripping program to encode the dvd to divx or what ever format you'd like. There are many programs available to do this.

If it says your buffer is full- it makes me think you may not have enough RAM perhaps. If you are trying to rip straight off the disc, this will be very heavy on system resources too- hence I advise copying to your hard disc first.

Whilst you are ripping/encoding I strongly recommend that you do not do anything on your computer. And disable the screensaver. If you use your computer or you have programs running during the encoding stage- you risk having jumps/blips in your final movie.
Hope this helps

Nice one. Although the software has been pulled by the author I guess some sites haven't removed it. Just downloaded it.
Thanks,
Gcol

3 sets of burning software--windows---Nero 5.5---Pinnacle----it seems that you can burn dvd's with these sets of software but not film dvd's as the files are different so you need software to rip from the dvd to your hard drive and software to burn the dvd film files to dvd.

You have the dvd ripper, now you need the dvd burner.

Try Nero 6.6.0.18

u can still use nero to burn onto DVD, burn mpeg2 as an ISO

also u will have to burn divx as an iso file in nero
