I have no HW, no CH and a very unhappy wife.
Needed to move the radiator in my kitchen which happens to be the last on in my system. Did as advised - tied up ball cock in header tank, drained system, moved radiator , untied ball cock, tank filled up and that's it. My radiators etc. are I think still empty and no heating etc. is taking place. The boiler will fire up for a couple of minutes but then shuts down. I have tried bleeding radiators but still nothing. I have read a lot of the posts but none quite seem to match my problem
Inclined to think I have a giant airlock but don't really know what to do next. Help please,

Thanks,
Sounds like it might be but what to do. I have pushed a screwdriver down the pipe as far as I can but met no resistance and nothing happened. I noticed in another post someone suggesting connecting the system drain valve with an outside mains pipe and forcing the water in backwards (different problem). Do you think this might help?
Thanks,

if it is a blockage it will be where the feed pipe joins the system not at the top. you will need to remove the pipework.

Is that the little black box on the side of the pump with 4 settings? If so I have tried that but no joy. The pipe coming from header tank comes down and does a sharp turn into a larger pipe and then into the pump. Could it be blocked there not that I am very wise as to what to do next if it is? As you can see I have a very limited knowledge.
Thanks,

Thank you all for your help and advice. Yes it was probably a blockage high up. I used a plunger last night in the header tank and by this morning I had a small amount of water coming through. I used the plunger again this morning and got a decent flow and I have now got water in my radiators.

I had a blocked feed from my FE tank and found that the best way to unblock it (apart from taking all the pipework out) was to use a net curtain spring wire thing (the bit you push through the curtain to hang it up)! It's small enough to bend round 90 deg joints but rigid enough to push its way through and crud that's built up.
However as one of the post indicates you need to manually lock the 3-port/mid position valve in the "mid" position to allow you to fill the CH up. If you suspect a blockage and can't properly unblock the pipe you could "back fill" the system just to get you going. Downstairs there will be a rad with an outlet on and a small valve, just connect a hose pipe on this valve open the valve and then turn on your hose pipe (don't turn the hose full on) - just wait then until water comes out of the overflow on your FE tank and turn the water off, close valve and disconnect. Go round bleeding your rads with the system off and then repeat if necessary. At least then you can keep warm until you can tackle the bigger problem of removing the pipe. If you have an air lock in the system I have made a previous post on a nifty way of shifting it (I haven't made that many posts so it should be pretty easy to find).

Good luck
