New kitchen being fitted next month so I'm sourceing appliances. Have gone for a Neff single oven with slide away door, a Neff induction hob is going to be in the region of £600+, as much as the oven. Is there any advantage in an expensive hob? I can get a Beko with 5yr warranty for around £350 from John Lewis, surely Beko can't be rubbish if JL sell them. An even cheaper option is Logik from Currys which comes in at about £250 with the extra 5 yr warranty. The Logik has very good reviews on Revoo. If whichever one I go for has 5 yrs warranty does it matter if it's a cheepo?

Neff induction hobs are very good quality and may well be worth the extra cost.

With all makes because of the complexity of the electronics I would avoid having all my rings in one unit. If one hob fails you may lose the use of the others until a the unit is repaired. For this reason the Neff Domino range is worth looking at. Each Domino unit has two rings If a unit fails you still have two working rings in the other unit and with a bit of extra work ( two cut outs in the work top ) the rings can have more space between them. Or you can have two gas and two induction hobs in matching units.

Induction hobs are soooooo darned quick at heating pans, this must surely offset the extra cost, just by being on for so much less time.

No, because it is per unit of energy as stated above.
However with gas i would guess a lot of the heat is not transfered into the pan and wasted. Induction is very efficient but the fuel is more expensive.

Not to mention that most of the year in our temperate climate the heat lost to the room can hardly be called a waste.

Beko currently have fridge freezers on recall that go up in flames , gas cookers that i think have killed people from CO poisoning from grill, and tumble dryers that go up in flames .
If there is a make i would avoid i know what it would be

We had a Beko fridge that gave sterling service for over 10 years.

Have they sacked all their QAs?

looked at a few beko ovens/hob repair jobs lately . Not the finest quality at all , get what you pay for

Buy cheap, get cra@p, if you want something decent you'll have to put your hands deep into your pockets. JL will sell what sells, just like any other company, they're not going to thoroughly test every product they stock before they release it to the general public
