you could easily switch it off. but base gettin no signal is gonna look even worse than you goin to the chippy down the road every day!

you will get used to it.

yes they are not good, but as has been said there is nothing you can do about it, and if several of you have them and yours is the only one that keeps "going wrong" who do you think they will blame?

I don't see the issue,I've had one on my work vehicle for several years, and it's never been a problem. I don't like doing my private things in a huge Landrover with National Grid plastered all over it anyway..I do my personal stuff in my Discovery with nothing plastered over it :D

On a slightly less dismissive note, so long as the company are not using just to "spy" on their staff, then I don't see there is a real issue, they can be used for good and bad. I think it is simply a case of technology advancement that we all need to get used too.

I have a workmate who has a tracker fitted to his van and complains all the time.

I would complain too but I have a company car (so far not fitted with tracker). I feel that I pay tax to have the privelge of loaning a company car then why should they be able to SPY on us ?

I think its another liberty that our employers take for granted !

Cheers

I had some real-ar*ehole slimy saleman pester me last year about signing me up with these .....
waste of money an completly destroys trust /relationship with lads working for you ...

as a boss now ...its a very hard line to be one but you can without being a Bast**d..

always remember a chippy mate banksy on a site years ago being given the run about by a hitler like foreman ..
they the joiners were waiting for the roof trestles/timber for this big development an they were having an early brew/snap ..along comes the lil foreman an goes shouting an swearing at banksy, he calmly looked over his paper at the ranting foreman an said "listen pal were aving a early brew ok, as the sections an timber aint here ...OK!
foreman turning red an viens popping tore away his Racing Post an said , I dont F***ing care there is no timber , just try looking busy ,OK"
banksy jumps up an starts dancing aroung him ,laughing an whooping ...
the foreman screeches
"what the f**K are you doing you crazy bastard , ????"
banksy stops an looks down at him an says ,
"Im doing a F**king jig an being busy ,you lil tos*pot !"
foreman wailed "get off my site your fired ..FIRED /SACKED ,Get gone !"

the site was shutdown that second as we walked off ..
as the managers/owners sent the foreman to another development ,banksy was back the next monday ....

an regarding firms using Trackers bet the Gas board use them ..

many moons ago a good pal of mine Dave,
was a trainee Area Gas engineer (big manager job , would lead too running his district ...)
well he was a bit of a quiet one at work all polite an real bosses man ..
unlike after hours he was in the TA , 4bn the Paras at his barracks ..Liverpool docks
(well I got monkeys on the brain at times but HIM...a complete headabal !lol)
He was a mentalist , but every monday morn he was Mister Office Manager ...
lots of the service engineers who had had him work with them ...thought he was a GOD ,
after hours ,
HE WAS 24 party person,
but by day a switched ON Cat ,
he could pinpoint a class 2 escape within inches ,
he was Mr Gas
the office girls thought of him like Brad Pitt of today .. he had a different lass every night ..an even dumped gals were ok with him ...as he left them like a true STAR !,its me , not you IM SOooo SORRY ,*sniff*

Til he went on a jolly to the lights at blackpool one weekend

an was involved with a lot of trouble, lol fights an kerfuffles ....throwing a copper onto the beach off the prom ,lol

using his maestro gas van as a battering ram on the doors of a seafront club called "Sands !,
after he was beaten an thrown out unfairly an then being punched trying to explain
(as lots of you will know Bpool bouncers are ANIMALS )
for stopping a bloke smacking his g/f an then she to turned on him ,lol

he escaped the scene
but was then seen back scuttling some lass near the purple Penny arcade by police who gave chase ,after totally throwing 6 coppers around the place
he was off again on his legs , he went in the 007 club an he had a Fantastic weekend there

he was apprehended on the 8.15 train back to Manchester ... by a ticket collector who the police had sent on to make him come off the train as they feared being smashed to bits .....
the ticket collector sat beside him an said
"Listen Son ,
they say your a nutter ,
I dont know you look a nice fellow to me ...they dont want to come an get you as you will hurt them ..coppers eh .. waste of time ,
we will hit Kirkham soon we slow to crawl if you jump you will get away ,
but you look a decent lad who may of made mess in blackpool ,sort it out sonny jim ...an get on with your life ..."
dave left the train at Kirkham an was roughly/dragged cuffed an put in a black mariaaa
he was beaten black an blue in the cells at Preston Police station after" he attacked a copper ",say the police even though he was handcuffed behind his back all the time in detention /custody ..
:(
These facts were from the paper an the ticket fella even fella fell out with the rought handling
Dave was given a 3yrs suspended sentance after the judge at the courts said , "Im in awe of you, young man, but this doesnt excuse your behaviour , you let many people down an your military career is over too ...!"

Last I heard he was running/training around the estate for a try out with the Army , for the SAS TA...

last I ever seen of him ..a old bloke from the estate derrick(plasterer ) whos lad is in the regular SAS....
he thinks Daves there now an "on active service "(said whispering to me !), lol....

you can listen this from others an think BOL**CKS

but Derrick-my-lad you believe it ...

anyone who met Dave , just immediately liked the bloke ...
lol...lol

Im a bit tearful here as I remember my old mucker ..
"Keep well dave an God Bless you !! ..!! "(bet even God has you as His no1 Son now ..lol
I dont know what it is .. never met this before in a person .. he was capitvating , funny, kind/cruel , just a 1st class type of guy ...

sorry unless you met such type person you may think the monkeys in my brain are on acieeed ...

The problem I have with van trackers is this:

They shouldn't be necessary!

There should be some law where companies either have to supply parking for all their vehicles, or allow the driver unlimited private use of the vehicle. There are far too many company vans parked on my street, each one taking up the space of nearly 2 cars, and then the guys have to have their own cars anyway! Means there isn't enough space for everyone to park their cars round here.

So, the company should either say "you must park the van in our depot", or "you can use the van for your own private errands, you pay for the fuel used"... I suppose for the latter you could use a tracker to keep track of mileage, but that's about it.

but if that was the case, many people wouldnt mind payin the fuel, since they get away with tax/mot/insurance/other hassles.

A couple of blokes I play golf with have trackers in their works vans and they know of other workers who have had to pay for fuel as they took the vans on private jollies.

Aren't works vans supposed to be returned to the yard each night? If not, they are classed as company cars - is this correct?

these things are once again another way to control the sheep
i have been to a few interviews in the past and at the end of the interview they always ask you is there anything you would like to ask me and i always ask do you have trackers on your vans if they say yes i say goodbye i came for a job not to be your personel slave.

mate has a tracker in his company car, they use it to make sure he starts / finishes on time.

one slight use for it, sometimes he rings up and asks "where is xyz in relation to where i am now?," they can give directions to where he wants to go

i asked why not have a Tomtom go (other satalite navigatiojn systems are available) his reply was, "why should i pay a couple of hundred £ for the company to benefit from it?"
