I replaced the PCB with the updated type about 2 years ago and the boiler has worked fine ever since. But today the boiler won't fire up, there is a single LED that is flashing, I presume this means it's 'locked out'. I have tried resetting/ switching on/ off but nothing works. Do I need a new PCB? or are the new types reliable and I have a different problem?

in order to replace the PCB correctly you must have breached the combustion chamber as to do it correctly requires the fan wiring harness to be altered Im afraid that the site rules correctly inhibit anyone from giving you further advice you need an RGI

I'm not asking you to comprimise gas safety regs and tell me to do something illegal. I am asking for help to DIAGNOSE my problem. I can get the boiler to run the heating for about 15mins (from cold) before the green LED starts flashing and the boiler shuts down, any ideas?

Stop being CHEAP and pay for an RGI to repair your boiler.

The flashing green LED means that the boiler thinks the water is up to temp, so its either a pcb fault or poor water circulation.

Testing the water circulation can be done non invasively by measuring the flow and return temperatures.

Should be no more than 11 C when the boiler is firing.

Did you change the whole harness when you changed the PCB ?
Yes I did

The idea of a forum is for people to ask questions, not to fire out petty snipes, if you ain't got anything worth saying..................don't!

2 years,,,,,,, yeah i guess the temperature control on the pcb has gone out of calibration swap pcb...all good

Whilst people will always ask questions its not prudent to give advice which is unsafe or against forum rules.

Those senarios include gas related aspects and includes opening the combustion chamber and fitting parts which you did when you fitted the new PCB.

The only good advice is to get a gas reg engineer to check its still safe and check the gas settings and flue gas composition.

Well said Agile.

Could RGI's on this forum STOP offering advice which involves diy'ers opening up combustion chambers.

Since when did you have to open the "combustion chamber "to swap out a pcb on a Suprima ?
However i do agree with people giving advise that could potentially harm someone............so i mute we should shut the site down and ban the internet.

Had one similar to this a couple of weeks ago. In that instance the culprit was found to be the diverter valve not moving fully across to the heating only position. I knew that the orange wire should have become live but it didn't.

A faulty programmer or roomstat were other possibilities. If you have no joy after eliminating the 'call for heat' scenario then it is time to call in a gas safe engineer.

It seems that Baxmax has never replaced the original Suprima PCB with the latest replacement unit.
