hi

i got a bosch PBH 2000 SDS plus drill recently. and am now trying to use it.

The drill came with few SDS plus drill bits.

My question is how do i actually put the drill bit into drill.

A photo of the drill can be found here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-PBH-2...=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B000RW024A

The drill has a plastic mount at the front and i can pull one it back slightly. On the inside i can see that by pulling the plastic bit inside, one of the parts retracts.

i thought i would put the drill bit in with the plastic mount held back and then release the mount to secure the drill bit. But despite lining up the groves, after i release the mount, i am still able to simply pull the drill bit out.

what am i doing wrong? tried to google it but no joy! please help

Providing there is not a fault with the SDS chuck,

You simply push the bit into the chuck, don't pull back the collar on the chuck, simply push the bit in, you don't need to line up the slots or anything like that, it should just go in and click when secure.

you then pull back the chuck collar back when you want to release the bit from the chuck usually.

maybe you need to push the bit a little harder? especially if the chuck maybe new?

Proper Bosch chucks indeed do not require the collar pulling back to insert the bit.

Drop the bit in with the collar forward and rotate until you feel it settle into alignment, then pull it out a bit and ram it in.

thanks, i will try to put the drill bit in without pushing the chuck collar. will try tomorrow when i am at home. ta
