Hello guys
I have Glow Worm boiler.
The flue is coming from the boiler's back, through the wall towards the garden.
The flue is not coming from the top of the boiler, it is from the back.
Can I install plume kit on it?
I am asking because the installer of the boiler said that I can NOT. Because the flue is coming from the back of the boiler and not from the top.

Is that correct?

The Plume Management Kit will fit to the Top Horizontal Telescopic, Rear Horizontal Telescopic and Standard Horizontal Flue. This enables the flue products to exhaust further away from the boiler, thereby reducing the impact of pluming. NOTE: The flue air inlet can be sited closer to doors, opening windows and air bricks, than stated in section 4.2, see diagram 0.3. The maximum length of the Plume Management Kit must NOT exceed 6m with a horizontal concentric flue length of 2m max. For each 90o bend or 2 x 45o bends the maximum length of the Plume Management Kit must be reduced by m. For more information contact Glow-worm, refer to page 2. The Plume Management Kit is supplied with installation instructions. Refer to BS5546 or BS6798 for advice on disposal of boiler condensate.

From the manual .

Get another installer ;)

I wonder why the installer said I can't!!

Thanks Dan for that. Do you have an idea how much does it cost to have it installed by a liceinced installer?

Enjoy your bath lol

Without seeing the job it would be impossible to say.

Trying to find reasons other than idiocy and laziness on the part of your installer - and all I can think is that you are too high for easy access and he just wants to poke the pipe through a hole?

Bath is lovely, But I'm hungry after second fixing my kitchen. Might go a nd christen it by doing an Bacon and mushroom sarny .

Yes... just a few more swigs of G&T first though .

Why am I in such a good mood? Had a carp day as well!

If the flue is pointing towards the garden then why do you want a plume kit?

If the customer supplied all the ladders then I would charge about £65 to retrofit a plume management kit IF that did not involve removing/cutting the existing flue, a bit more if it did depending on if it was cemented in etc.

The steam and gas like smell always come through the window and the door when opened so that is why thinking of plume kit.

then it's not been fitted correctly poc's should never be allowed to enter the property even if the min distances are correct

I suspect that it has been fitted within the correct distances but that does not guarantee that some POC will not enter nearby windows and doors.

Personally I find the POC as pretty odourless!

true Tony but that's the reason they are min distances & the primary considerations should be prevention of poc's entering the property as we all know & if that means twice or more the min then so be it
