Brush wise purdy monarch elite, proform picasso or corona (which i don't think you'll find very easily)

You gotta prep well though Kate and give it two coats, been using it today looks good.

I've heard the dulux is ok but not used it, don't use their products much now as they keep robbing us poor old painters

Satin IS a sheen finish. If you don't want a sheen then you don't want a satin.

What is it you are painting anyway?

Good point, the satura is a pretty low sheen, have to be eggshell for lower or a dead flat oil

Door frames and skirting boards
is that right! Deffently don't want gloss it's horrid imo

hi Kate

long term lurker really but some relevant experience. we are using sikkens water based satin and it's excellent. like you we didn't want gloss but thought matt would be too dull. it's looking nice and gf, who to be fair has no previous painting experience, refers to it as "the good paint" now. I suppose she hasn't got experience of the rivals and it's only up against some dulux retail which was recommended to us ( and shouldn't have been now I have used it).

anyway, long and short, the sikkens is going on well and looking good with synthetic brush put on by a novice.

Hi there.

I've done my whole house in Sikkens Rubbol Bl Satura. It's excellent. Flattens out nicely, stays open for long enough and is quite tough after it's hardened. I'd recommend that, it's not like gloss, has a slight sheen but more of a matt/low sheen.

I used Purdy brushes with it.
