I think I may of killed my Mower today.
It started smoking, so I turned it all off unplugged it and took the plastic cover off.

Not enough particles of grass to cause a problem around the foam protection pieces.

I started it up and there was a constant spark from the central column spinning thing ( not a great description )

All contacts are secure so I put it back together and it worked ok for a bit then smoked and cut out and it smells like its struggling.

Are the sparks normal? as I wouldn't know with them being under the plastic cover.

Doesn't help that the grass was longer than normal to so maybe a bit to heavy for it and ive killed it :(

Model is a Flymo 380

Thankyou in advance :)

I'm afraid the motor has gone to the great grass pile in the sky......nothing you can do with it, but ebay may come to your rescue!
John :)

To be proper technical, the armature has a shorted winding. To find it (the winding), you would do a growler test (on the armature not you), then throw it away.

So as we say over here, its bucked..................... :D

As John says, E-Bay, just be careful of the postage

I is that Ebay for a new motor then?

I may try to get one local from a dealer if that's the case.

They are lovely mowers and its in great condition other than this.

Thanks guys :)

That seems good value, as there isn't mush listed on E-Bay at the moment. Wouldn't you think there would be an odd secondhand one, listed for parts?
