Hi, does anyone have experience of IKEA or Magnet kitchens? Our neighbour is a joiner and he will fit for a fraction of the shop price. I chose the kitchen I want from Magnet for our renovation and got plans so the electrician has wired for this plan HOWEVER... my husband is now worried about getting a Magnet Kitchen so we had a lovely argument last night and I have just looked at IKEA kitchens which are much cheaper. Which one would you choose? Bearing in mind my other half swears blind it's not about the money - even though he is shopping for wood burning stoves.......

I'd choose Wickes, great kitchens great prices, or Howdens dearer but great kitchens, The big companys will sort all electrics and any gas connections ( hopefully legally ) however you'll pay through the nose for them, If you can trust your neighbour and look at some of his work i'd get him, check who he uses for the electrics and gas though and make sure it's included in the full fit cost, I have seen many awful installs from the big companys as often the installer couldn't give a toss,

Ikea kitchen units have no service void behind them, so electrics, gas and plumbing/waste services need careful planning and routing. The walls need to be almost perfectly flat too (how many walls are though?)
Magnet units are fine, as are Wickes, Howdens etc. ;)

Remember a good fitter can make a cheap kitchen look great... A bad fitter can make an expensive kitchen look cheap. ;)

I don't like ikea kitchens personally for the reasons mentioned above.

I work with an independant kitchen fitter who fits kitchens for magnet and they seem really good kitchens to me.
